Knee & Hip Treatment Costs in London

Patient knee scan reviewed by Dr Arj Imbuldeniya

This page sets out what treatment with Dr Arj Imbuldeniya costs, clearly and upfront. A new consultation is £350, injections range from £500 to £3,500 depending on the treatment, and surgeon’s fees for surgery run from around £1,110. Most patients are self-funding or insured, and my team will give you a written all-in estimate before you commit to anything.

Why I publish my prices

Most surgeons hide their fees until after you have enquired. I think that is the wrong way round. You are about to make a significant decision about your own body, and you deserve to know what it costs before you sit down opposite me, not after. Everything below is my genuine fee schedule. The only figure I cannot put on a page is the exact total of an operation, because that depends on your procedure, your hospital and your anaesthetist, and my team will always put that in writing for you before anything is booked.

Consultation and report fees

A first appointment is unhurried and thorough, and everything flows from it.

Consultations and reports Fee
Initial new patient consultation, in person £350
Follow-up consultation, in person or by video or telephone £250
Medical reports £150 to £450
Access to medical records £50

Injection treatment fees

All injections are performed under ultrasound guidance for precision, and only after proper assessment. Which one suits you, if any, depends on your joint and your goals, not the price.

Ultrasound-guided injections Fee
Steroid (cortisone) injection £500
Hyaluronic gel, Ostenil Plus £700
PRP, Arthrex ACP £950
High-dose PRP, Arthrex ACP Max £2,050
Arthrosamid hydrogel knee injection £3,500

Surgery fees

The figures below are my surgeon’s fee. They are not the total cost of your operation, because a hospital fee and an anaesthetist’s fee are added on top, and both vary by procedure and venue. My team will always give you a single written estimate covering all three before you commit.

Surgery, surgeon’s fee Fee
Keyhole (arthroscopic) cartilage and meniscus surgery £1,110 to £2,274
ACL and other knee ligament repair or reconstruction £2,331 to £2,490
MAKO or CORI robotic-assisted total knee replacement £3,499 to £3,695
MAKO or CORI robotic-assisted partial knee replacement £3,250 to £3,489
Röttinger anterior muscle-sparing hip replacement £3,469 to £3,685

What a surgical quote actually includes

The price of an operation comes in three parts, and hiding two of them is how surprises happen. There is my fee, the surgeon’s fee, shown above. There is the hospital fee, which covers your bed, theatre, implants, imaging and nursing care, and is the largest part. And there is the anaesthetist’s fee. A quote that shows only one of these is not a real quote. When you are ready, my team will give you all three in one written estimate, so you see the whole picture before you decide. Self-funding and private insurance

Both routes are straightforward here. If you are self-funding, the fees on this page are exactly what they say, with a written estimate for anything surgical. If you are insured, I am recognised by the major UK providers, and my team can confirm your cover and guide you through what your insurer needs before your appointment. You can read more on the paying for your care and knee surgery insurance pages.

Getting your written estimate

The honest answer to what your treatment will cost is a written estimate built around you, and that starts with a consultation. Bring any imaging you have, and once we agree a plan my team will put every part of the cost in writing. There are no surprises and no obligation.
