Dr Arj Imbuldeniya, Consultant Orthopaedic Knee and Hip Surgeon, London

The surgeon you want, whether you need surgery or not

When surgery is the right answer, it should be precise, modern, and tissue-sparing. Dr Arj’s surgical work is a major reason patients travel to him: Röttinger anterior hip replacement, trained over three years at OCM Munich; robotic-assisted knee resurfacing and replacement; female ACL reconstruction with enhanced fixation; revision ACL; and advanced cartilage and meniscus surgery.

Musculoskeletal care fails in two opposite directions. Some surgeons operate on patients who never needed it. Some non-surgical clinicians keep patients away from an operation they urgently do need. Both are the same mistake — the wrong clinician, at the wrong time, with nobody accountable for the whole pathway. Because Dr Arj is a high-volume operating surgeon, he can tell the difference, and he recommends surgery only when it is genuinely the right move. Around 90% of patients who came to him thinking they needed surgery didn’t end up needing it — a figure drawn from his own clinical cohort between 2016 and 2026. That is not a promise to avoid theatre. It is what happens when a knee or hip is assessed properly before anyone reaches for a scalpel. Biology-first. Surgery-last. Selective, not reluctant.

Knee procedures

The R.E.P.A.I.R.™ method

Every knee and hip is worked through six pillars — Reset Biology, Enhance Movement, Power, Augment Healing, Intervene Surgically, Resilience — so non-surgical options are properly explored before surgery is ever recommended. We do not stack treatments. We sequence adaptation.
