Every private knee replacement quote in the UK is the sum of three parts: the hospital package, the surgeon's fee and the anaesthetist's fee. My surgeon's fee is published on this page to the pound. The hospital element varies by venue, implant and length of stay, which is why my team always obtains a complete written quote for you before anything is booked.

Because most quotes hide the parts, and the parts are where the truth lives. Buying a knee replacement is like buying a house. There is the asking price everyone talks about, and then there is the real total, the survey, the solicitor, the moving van, which nobody mentions until you are committed. The range within each procedure reflects complexity. A straightforward primary replacement sits at the lower end. A knee with significant deformity, previous surgery or bone loss takes longer to plan and longer to perform, and sits at the upper end. You will know your exact figure in writing after your consultation, before you decide anything.
Key Information About Private Knee Replacement Prices
Quotes vary because knees vary, hospitals vary and implants vary. The hospital sets the largest part of the price, and a central London hospital with robotic theatre capability prices differently from a regional day unit. Your length of stay matters, and your knee itself matters most of all. No two patients with the same worn knee leave my clinic with the same plan, because they are not the same person. Your weight, your general health, your anatomy, your sleep, your work and the shape of your family life all change what I recommend and how I stage it, and the quote follows the plan, never the other way round.
Usually somewhat, and for a reason. Robotic assistance adds theatre time and technology costs at the hospital level, and you will see that reflected in the package. What it buys is precision in how the implant is aligned and balanced for your specific anatomy. Most patients who come to me fearing a replacement leave with a structured alternative first, because arthritis pain reflects both the state of the joint and the inflammation within it, and the second half of that equation can often be treated without a scalpel. Knee replacement is a superb operation, precise, modern and life-changing, when it is done at the right time for the right knee.
